Level 3 - Agility
Is your dog naturally athletic? Maybe they are a shy guy? Or you’ve seen agility and cannot wait to get your feet wet and give it a go? Agility has certainly created a stir in the dog world. It’s fun!
- Targeting!
- Tunnels!
- Jumps!
- Weaves!
- Contacts!
- Aframe!
- Dog Walk!
- Table!
- Rear Crosses!
- Front Crosses!
- A dog that does a teeter?! Yes!
Agility is a great activity to do with your dog. It builds confidence in shy dogs. Channels excess energy in the exuberant dogs. It’s just fun!
Most of our clients and their dogs start off just for fun. It’s not long and the agility bug gets them and they want to compete a little. We recommend all of our students start competing in CPE as they have some really nice competition classes for beginners!
Your first step is our Agility 101 class where you’ll learn foundation skills that are important for you and your dog to maneuver a course in higher levels. In Agility 101 there is off leash work so it’s necessary for your dog to stay with you off leash around other dogs and people.

Requirements for Agility
- Basic obedience: sit, down, wait, come, off leash control
- Dogs over 6 months old can participate with limitations on certain equipment due to their growth (i.e. jumps are kept very low)
- Dogs with excess weight can become injured easily doing agility so your dog should be lean
- Food Motivated
- You (the handler) must wear appropriate foot gear. NO FLIP FLOPS. Tennis shoes only.
- Open minded, fun and patient. Never force or pull a dog onto equipment.
- If you have not graduated a 101 program at Dogue Spot you and your dog will need to attend one L2 obedience class (just one hour) so we can evaluate your skills. If at that time you and your dog can demonstrate basic obedience skills you can start in agility. If not then you can decide if you’d like to continue with us and first compete a L1 or L2 obedience class.
Want to get started? Call, email or stop on in. Our next agility class will surely fill up! Beginner agility is currently offered on Monday evenings at 7:30pm.
